Soon after the announcement of the building of the Motor Parkway, and particularly once the road was being laid and some of it completed, it was mentioned in advertising to bring attention to inns, real estate developments, restaurants, sporting events, etc. Being in close proximity to the Parkway was viewed as a valuable advantage as automobile usage grew significantly on Long Island.
